A bit of a guess, but with the blade profile, length of shaft, metal coil to the butt and flattened blade midrib.... I will vote they are from the Ethiopia or Eritrea area.

Thanks, glad you like the spears. The photo is 30+ years ago. Regarding the "European spear blades" - perhaps both possibilities are correct.

It looks like its meant to be a Chokwe (Angola/Congo area) staff of office. However, given the low quality carving I would guess it was likely made for selling to Europeans (tourists).
