Shashka Origin???
To clarify what I am trying to establish, herewith is a pic of the sword without the scabbard (which has been correctly described as a "bitser").
The handle is silver and is decorated extensively....

IMHO definitely salvageable, but to what extent will depend on how far the rust has penetrated the metal. I always use WHITE VINEGAR...(from local supermarket) and soak the offending item...

Not Omani IMHO. Here is a pic of an Omani bandolier. Note that the stoppers are leather/fibre rather than metal caps. My thinking is the Balkans somewhere.
