ww, I suspect from the cross-section shown that this is an unusually long baculum or penile bone. The groove would have been where the urethra ran the length of the penis. The longest examples are...

Here is a rotated and enLarged picture of the stamp on the ricasso. The blade appears to have some age in line with Jim's estimate. Anyone recognise the stamp? What is the likelihood that this could...

An interesting composite sword. One wonders why and how a NE Indian/Pakistani blade came to be mounted in this unusal manner and where that occurred. One possibility is a traveler, moving from east...

Wayne, I'm going to join the chorus of those who think this is a decorative item made well within the last century, and has been "manipulated' to appear older. I won't discuss the features that are...

Hi Alan,

I had considered using one of the private carriers (Fedex, UPS, DHL), but the cost of sending even a small package to or from the US with any of them is prohibitive for the purchaser, and...

Looking at the blade, I believe that its maximum width is closer to the hilt than the tip. If that is the case, then this might well be a Sulu barung blade that has been remounted in a Maranao...

Xas, one way to overcome the "bite" of a wire-wrapped grip is to use a glove on the sword hand. Do you know whether such gloves were used during Spanish Colonial times. It seems to have been mainly a...
