A wootz katar
My only other acquisition from the show in Timonium. A polish and etch turned up a wootz pattern. No fancy decoration, just a nice solid piece.

Nice bold pattern. Nice pick up!

Steve, with these recent wootz finds you may be steering your collection in a new direction! Wootz can get addictive! :D

I have to admit that Lew spotted this one. It wasn't etched, of course. He saw something in it that I couldn't see. :)

Hi Steve,
Beautiful piece there of the classic katar, and Rick is right, a pattern that nice in a blade can be very addicting! Not surprised at the note on Lew noticing this, pre etch....... he has a distinct sense in discerning good pieces!! Looks like you did well at Timonium, congratulations. It was good to finally meet you there in person as well. All the best, Jim |
Lovely katar!
Out of curiosity... was wootz generally applied to any blades in particular or just any that the owner-to-be wanted and could afford? |

Seems that my eye paid off once more ;) here is one that I picked up recently :) Seems similar to yours? The blade is about 90 percent full a good old warrior with an Indian wootz pattern. Lew |
