I bought it from ebay, a sword with handle with hand form and a good wavy blade, i hope like you!!
Someone could helpme about the age ? Thanks Carlos http://cgi.ebay.es/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?...m=140302476546 |
I would say that this is Katipunan from Ilocos Norte and late 19c.

Carlos, Great sword and with what looks to be the original scabbard !! I was watching this too and wished I had the finances to have bid on it. I'm very glad that you won this and hope to see lots of new pictures once you receive it. I'm in total agreement with Jose on age and origin. Congratulations on a great catch.
Robert P.S. If you ever get tired of looking at this please send it on to me. I will give it a nice home. :D |

This really doesn't look late 19th century to me. I can see no seam line in the ferrule the brass guard is too thin and the blade seems to have machine grind marks on the finish but that could have been done later. This dagger seems more 20th century to me 1925-40. Lew |
Well, the only thing is that the details, especially the ring on one of the fingers, was used on late 19c pieces according to my informants. Spunger even told me that the ring sometimes signified a hidden message inside the hilt and was not used after this period. I have not seen detail in the fingernails like this in later versions of the fist.
