Kard in Damascus steel
6 Attachment(s)
good day Gentlemen
during my long trip back to Paris coming from Cairo, passing by Damas (Syria) I found some (!!) ... knifes :p one of them it's that "kard", real damascus steel ("joar" in arabic) :D not some "wootz" as we may found every where in our days ;) tks for yrs comments and appreciations à + Dom |
Nice find, Dom
Real and with real "Jouhar" blade:-) I think it is Turkish/Ottoman. Is the handle made of stone? It looks like agate stone. These, as well as Persian Kards, are scarce finds in Damascus, and even more so in Egypt:-). there are more Kurdish daggers and blades, but not many kards, especially as nice as yours? Happy New Year! |
... sory, clicked "save" too many times:-)

the handle seems to be either horn, or ?? but not agate stone ... unfortunately :o à + Dom |
Just out of interest: how much did it cost in Syria?
If you wish, you can send me PM. |
