Latest Ebay Find

Latest find http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...ies%26_fvi%3D1 As I have not seen one quite like this before I would like to hear your comments about the age on this. Horn grips can be damaged by insects and give the appearance of age without actually being old. The pictures are not the best but do give an idea of overall condition. Total length is 19-1/4" with a blade length of 14-1/4" All comments are welcome.

With the sellers permission here are the pictures from the auction. Nice Philippine dagger showing Spanish influence in style. The way the brass fittings are decorated is what makes me wonder about the age. If they were plain I would guess it to be from the late 19th to early 20th century.

A very interesting variant of the Ilocano dagger. I'd say turn of the 20th century.

Spanish influence, looks like Philippines OK, think Battara's estimate correct.

Jose and Jim,
Thank you very much for your interest and opinions on this item. My main concern about the age was the way the brass fittings were done. The only other one that I have seen with the fittings done in this manor was said to be from the WWII era. Again my thanks for your help.

Robert
