Dagger for ID
 

Does anybody know what type of dagger this is? AOL is 20.5 cm.

THIS IS NOT REALLY MY FIELD BUT AS NO ONE ELSE HAS TAKEN THE PLUNGE HERE GOES. :)
I THINK IT IS A OLDER BLADE FROM INDIA THAT HAS BEEN REHILTED, BUT NOT WITH THE NORMAL HANDLE FORM. IT COULD BE ONE OF AT LEAST 2 FORMS THAT USED TO BE CALLED SCORPION DAGGERS BY SOME COLLECTORS DUE TO ITS RESEMBLENCE TO A SCORPIONS STINGER.
1. KHANJARLI, THE ONE WITH THE LARGE POMMEL ,IT IS THE ONE USUALLY REFFERED TO AS A SCORPION DAGGER.

It may not be your field Vandoo, but your identification and supporting photos are right on!! Well done. What I like most on your responses is that you tend to elaborate and add well thought out detail. It is great when responses to posted items show such clear effort to be helpful.

I agree that this is what appears to be a modern working version of these most attractive daggers of India.

I actually acquired it from the Philippines. I initially guessed that it was of moro origin. Wrong guess. Those Indian dagger do get around.

THAT WOULD EXPLAIN THE HANDLE AS IT DOES LOOK LIKE PHILIPPINE WORK MORE THAN INDIA. WEAPONS DO INDEED GET AROUND FOR VARIOUS REASONS, WE CAN PROBABLY BLAME A LOT OF THE DIFFUSION TO UNLIKELY PLACES ON US COLLECTORS. SOMEONE IN THE FUTURE MAY WONDER WHY AND HOW THESE WEAPONS FROM EVERYWHERE ENDED UP IN OKLAHOMA. :D

I was informed by an expert that the dagger is likely to be Bagobo (Mindanao, Philippines).

Sounds possible to me. The ferrule behind the guard is similar to ones I have seen on Bagabo kampilans I will try and find a pic for comparison.
