Hi All
After years of seaching I finally snagged one :D.It is cigar shaped and at 29" long it is a the heavy beast. Below it is pictured along side another Southern Sudanese club of the same two tone wood. I would appreciate if other formites could please post some pics of their examples of this type of club. Thanks Lew |

Nice, looks more like Honduran or Dominican no2. I must stop this  enough to make you start smoking again. The Havana is 32" and nicely decorated but your not allowed such pleasures in the USA. Rolled on a sultry maidens thigh    wow thats smoking :D :D

I had my eye on that one but I decided to pass it up. I am very happy it found it's way to your home :). Tim it's interesting yours is definately Shilluk but my club seems to be from a more obscure tribe Rumbek Jur? http://southernsudan.prm.ox.ac.uk/de...934.8.99_a.jpg Congrats Lew |

While looking at the area. I have this piece 180mm longer than the example in the PittRivers link. I also believe the one I have is from much earlier in the 20th century if not older especially when viewing the magnified images.

Just had a few thoughts about this last stick and the one collected in the 1970s and donated by John mack to the Pitt Rivers. We are all aware of the vulnerability of wood in Africa. However some objects might not get neglected to the termites, granddads stick might be in the hallway as in our homes and regulary handled and kept safe from harm, just like us. Sold when need be.
