Dayak belt decoration

2 Attachment(s)
While not a weapon, I thought that maybe some people would be interested in seeing this. It is about 27 inches long and 8 inches wide.

According to "Hornbill and Dragon," by Sellato this is a decoration that hangs from a Dayak Iban Mandau belt. I would welcome any more information.

I also have a carved hornbill earring from the Dayak. If there is any interest, I will be happy to post it as well.

Bill:

That is beautiful bead work. Lovely example of the quality of decoration that many Dayak pride themselves for. I would be pleased to see the hornbill ear ring too. Thanks for showing us this interesting item.

Do you know how old the belt is?

Ian.
