Looks like one from an keris nice pamor

I am betting this one is huge, with a thick and heavy blade(should clean up much more dramatically than shown)....and from Sumatra I believe.

It's a klewang and a pretty rare one with it's rounded riccasso. I happen to have one just like it but with a laquered scabbard the blade exhibits the same exact pamor but mine has been polished up so it's harder to see. I think the pamor is called grasshoper teeth or someting like that? Will post a pic of it when I get home tonight. Bill notice the klewang at the bottom of the photo similar to yours but with a flattened riccasso. Very nice piece :) Congrats Lew |
While it certainly is a klewang-type blade, Bill's nice piece with its characteristic kembang kacang seems to be a variation of what Albert van Zonneveld refers to as "Pedang 3" (attributed to Palembang). The rounded "ricasso" is a really nice touch - could this possibly be a Batak influence?

Hi all,
Hmmm ..... blade is reminiscent of a Pedang Sabet Lameng/Luwuk Kalawijan ... Cheers. |

Could you give us an image of this? Javanese? Indonesian? Lew, It does look a lot like yours. Kai, Palembang could be a possibility. I bought several swords from this collection and the others are Batak and some from Palembang. Thanks Bill |

Hi all, here is mine for comparison. The blade is over polished, but anyway I don't think that there is a pamor :(
