Papal death squad knife.
1 Attachment(s)
This knife is a Papal assassins knife. The Papal death priests carry them to protect themselves from the Devil and other heretics. They are derived from the Spanish inquisition.

Is this a serious thread?
|
It could have been :o .

That blade looks plenty serious...the handle is a bit toy-like though.
|
The blade is very serious. The chap selling it said it was taken from an Italian officer in ww2 :D :D :D He was one of the death priests I imagine, that became an officer in the army?
|
Looks like some kind of antique souvenir of Venice.
|
Why do you say that Rick?
|
Isn't the handle the winged lion of St. Mark a Venice landmark ?
Why yes it is ! http://simplethinking.com/home/italy...j-P6228624.jpg |
Yes it is Rick, but it is well known the the papal death priests were established in Venice as there was a special hard line order. The order of st Mark. Look very closely at the cross it is not an ordinary cross. The cross piece is in the middle making it quite different.
|
Pardon my ignorance Tim; never heard of 'em.
Got any sources ? |
Rick the people who collect these things know that these people have always been a death squad since the late crusades. In my opinion you have shown no evidence to counter my original claim.

Anyway Bernard Manning said so. No its all make believe. bernard Manning is real. I wonder if he is on the internet.
|
Out of my realm of knowledge Tim; not countering your claim; just giving an opinion from observation of the object .
|
This guy is one of them and I am his head boy.

Does it look like rhino horn to you Tim? I reckon it could be. ;)
Spiral |
You mean there are no experts on early brass handled Papal-assassin figural daggers in this forum with other examples of winged lions to support your identification? How disappointing.

Tim ,
I noticed that the Papal Assassin's Dagger is without a scabbard... ..apparently they were too cumbersome and impractical....and were often discarded......I found an image that may explain why.... :D :D ;) |

Hmmm, now I lost. Does this picture suggest the scabbard would be in shape of CHURCH DIRECTED in PROPER WAY .... or does it prove it is impossible to make scabbard with the picture of the church in that way!
