Nicest Modern Seme I Have Ever owned
 

This is one of the nicest I have ever seen or run across. I wonder if the hilt was affixed after the blade was shaped or was it fitted afterwards, as it is an unusual one. The hilt seems to be composed of aluminum, horn, and wood. It has, what I think is a Queen Elizabeth half cent on the tip of the sheath.

A very nice hilt! Interesting that the hilt is of the stacked variety, I didn't know this was practiced in eastern Africa. The one I have, and those I've seen on this forum, had the regular wooden scales with stubs.
I can't tell from the picture if the blade has a forged rib or not. Is this locally produced or cut from a British machete?

Nice Seme, even if it's a modern one. I think a lot of work went into the manufacture of the hilt. I have no problem with modern African knives.

The blade is probably a reshaped blade of a machete.

I actually have quite a few semes and i have never seen anything like this. I have seen fur, wood, and the typical leather wraped over wood.

The blade has no midrib but it actually has two fullers or groves on the blade. I am betting it was cut from a british machete.
