Khevsurian fencing

Dear All,

Here is a fantastic book on khevsurian fencing (in russian). It also shows some rare pictures of khevsurian equipment.

There are three things I would add:
a. The reader of djvu format is available athttp://www.lizardtech.com/download/d...n&platform=win
b. In the text khevsurian swords are wrongly identified as of western manufacture, they were made locally. However, mail was mostly made in Kubachi.
c. The book mostly talks about ritualistic, non-combat fencing.

Good find

It looks very interesting. Too bad I cannot read it. Also the photos are small and blurry. But we got an idea, thank you. As I knew a big part of khevsur fencing is on their knees. After all this “trauma” with the modern copies I am glad to see the real stuff once again.

Did you notice in page 33 a yataghan hilt? What it says about it? If it is local must be the northern example of the family.

I would be glad to translate anything from this book. In figure 9, p.33 as fas as I understand it shows the point part of a spear, so it is kinded double point spear. Figure 7 is a walking stick/sword, Figure 6 is a dashna sword (single edge, straight, kindjal hilt, flat surface), Figure 8 - knife.
