i was wondering if anyone can translate this for me. on one side there's a mark, about 3/4 of an inch in diameter. on the other side, there's a writing, possibly turkish. i took a photo with the whole script, then split it up for a panoramic shot to get a better close up. it looks like these were all inlaid with silver at one time. could someone please translate this? thanks in advance.

btw, the blade is wootz...

Hi,

I could not read the upper part of the seal of Soleiman, but the rest is
amel-i Mustafa (swordmaker Mustafa)

I think the first part of the inscription is erased, you can see last part of a word just before "olsun"

The rest of the inscription is:

Olsun Mübarek Muradını Versin Ona Hak Te'ala ve Tebarek

Let......be blessed and May God who is hallowed and exalted grant him his wish

We can guess that the missing part is probably saying that Let this yatagan be blessed for his owner. Thus the whole inscription is:

Let this yatagan (or knife) be blessed for its owner and May God who is hallowed and exalted grant him his wish

(Just a wild guess though :) )

If it is possible I would nice to see the whole picture of the yatağan.

Best,

thank you for translating, zifir.

an acquaintance informed me that the blade is not a classic yataghan. could you verify that? also, there are gemstones that are embedded on the handle, although some are missing. you will also notice that one of the 'ear' handle broke off. here are some additional pics.

the red stones i believe are red coral, while the blue is lapis lazuli. the green, i'm not so sure about. would you happen to know where this sword came from? again, thanks in advance...
