Moro Kris Recent Restoration

Thought I would share some pictures of someone's kris that I recently restored. As you can see in the before pictures, I got the puppy in pretty bad shape. I was honored to bring it back to life.

Enjoy - Battara :D

PS - pictures to follow :)

Grrrrr, (mumble, rumble)

Why don't we all visit Jose?

Just go over there and see the kris? All crowd into his living room.

He's not that far from Georgia. Hmm gotta talk with him about a Moro hilt, and a certain yataghan......

David 28th September 2006 02:23 PM

ahem.....well yes, Jose, if you are waiting for a quorum or something i too will add my voice to the clammering crowd.....(tap, tap, tap.....) :D

Battara 28th September 2006 04:36 PM

Waiting for Lee to, um, post....... :o

Ian 28th September 2006 06:44 PM

Lee may be away or busy, Jose. I can resize them for you if you care to send them to me by email.

Ian.

Great job Jose and certainly worth the wait. Thanks for posting.

David 30th September 2006 01:59 PM

That IS nice jose......however....could we see some close-ups? :o
I realize there will be a wait. ;) :)

Battara 30th September 2006 09:20 PM

Lee.....thank you very much.

Thank you all for your kind comments.

As for close ups....I'll have to get back with the owner.

Battara 1st October 2006 06:35 PM

Just some background notes:

1. the blade was heavely rusted so I had to grind, polish, and etch it

2. the hilt was in pieces as you can also see in the pictures. I had to cut, rehilt the pommel, then make the silver upper and lower parts, then rewrap.

CharlesS 1st October 2006 08:44 PM

Super job Jose!

I really appreciate when a piece is restored without losing its historical intregrity. That is exactly what you have done here.

In other words it looks as it once looked without looking "new".

Again, super work.

Battara 2nd October 2006 06:58 PM

Thank you very much Charles. This is the fun for me, to try to bring back the soul and glory of any piece. This is my goal for any piece I work on.

Spunjer 4th October 2006 02:14 PM

Bill M 8th October 2006 11:24 AM

I can almost see the smile on that kris! He must feel great after having been brought back to life.
