WWII Yugoslavian Freedom Fighter's Dagger
4 Attachment(s)
Hello everyone. This image is a bit of a mystery to me.
To my uneducated eye, this dagger looks out of place. The partisan is armed with a double barreled shotgun, a revolver and an interesting dagger. Is it a Balkan style? I have had a dagger for many years which appears to be of a very similar style to the one in the picture. All I know about it, is that it was brought back by a U.S. GI after WWII. Thanks in advance. |

It's a rather nice, later Majdali dagger from Syria. Search for the term "Majdali" here and you will see a lot of similar ones.
Here a dated (1944) one I sold not long ago. Regards, Detlef |
Thanks for the identification! As for the Yugoslavian partisan in 1944, its still a mystery as to why he has a Syrian dagger. Perhaps there was some commercial trade in daggers in the Mediterranean/Adriatic region?
