Cannon Projectiles I

12 Pounder Shell
Diameter = 4.625" (Nominal = 4.52”) Wall thickness = 0.91” Volume = 1 Cup (250ml) (inside volume: to base of fuse opening) Weight = 8.75 lbs (Nominal = 8.34) Attachment 250606 Attachment 250607 I had a fairly active interest in artillery at one time. This is a 12pdr. shell. A wood bung with a fuse inserted would be forced into the hole. You can see the parting line from the molding process in the second picture. It is a bit of a challenge teasing more than one photo out of a round hunk of metal. I hope you approve of my efforts. I have looked for marks on this object but it is a bit of a Rorschach after staring at it for an extended period. Suffice it to say there is nothing glaringly obvious. |
Is that the Kings Broad Arrow I see?
