A Trousse knife?

Hello All
I bought this at auction a maybe a month ago, but have only recently gotten around to taking pics.

I have no idea what this is.
It was sold as Mongolian, and, maybe?

The hilt and scabbard seem to be wrapped in shagreen. And there is a kind of button lock, that releases it from the scabbard when pressed. It seems to have some age

I think it might be something like a trousse set, but one would normally expect a pair of chopsticks to be included in that.

What have I got here?

Thanks in advance
Leif

The button release is something you would find on sword canes and not typical on trousse. Given the size of this one perhaps it is a repurposed shortened sword cane or maybe a swagger stick with blade? It has nice mounts and a good looking blade that is likely laminated. Probably late 19th century.

Swagger stick was my other thought.

Thanks!

It's a 19th century Chinese knife. For self protection and other tasks. See here for a similar one.

Thank you Detlef.
That is an almost perfect match.
Mine is a little shorter, with no tassel, and nicer brasswork.

Also, here's a link to Artzi's old site for those pics.
