Two Spears (ex coll. shakethetrees)

The next of shakethetrees' items is a pair of spears clearly of similar origin, with bamboo shafts and leather-capped ends. One has a painted number "110" on it. These are 84-1/4" and 93" long, respectively.

They certainly look African and I would guess West African.

While not an exact match the structure of the midrib on both spears reminds of spears from the Horn of Africa (Somalia, etc.). You can find similar examples in the links below:

(similar examples on pg. 1 and 2 in the "African spear and arrow" section)

Many thanks, ADS.

As I mentioned in another post, I am blocked from the african-weapons.com website, getting a message (in German) that United States URLs are blacklisted. Is this an anomaly or are others in the US receiving the same message?

I get these messages too. In future, please do not link to this website until this access issue is corrected.

I get the same message from Australia. Seems to be a site-related problem.
