I've been a long term viewer and gained so much knowledge via this forum. I came across an item recently and couldn't find any information about it. I would like to know more about this item and it's origin and authenticity. Any input highly appriciated. Thanks D |

Hi, it's a cast iron reproduction. Probably European made.i have also seen Indonesian cast iron reproductions of similar inreicate spears and also dagger blades too.

Your original post looks virtually identical to the example in the Met link you posted. I think your OP has been silver plated at some time, some of which has been lost at the end of the hilt. If this is yours, congratulations on a very nice find. You might want to look at the end of the hilt to see if the pattern number, 3849, is visible. |

Hi Ian,
There is no pattern numbers at the end of the hilt. I've done the magnet test and it's definitly cast iron. I'm wondering how old these are. And how many currently available. Here is another photo I found. Quote:
