A Tombak For ID
3 Attachment(s)
Hi All,
Can this be a Javanese Tombak? Can anybody identify the dhapur? Cheers |
If we were to remove that fluted addition to the metuk we would have something very close to a Pajajaran/North Coast Jawa metuk, and the body of the blade could pass for Surakarta, but I do not think this is a Jawa tombak, the motif on the brongsong is a lung-lungan style, but not Central Jawa, the shaft tapering to a small diameter butt & lacking a tunjung does not look Javanese.
I have no firm opinion on origin. |
I am with Alan here, it's not Javanese. Could be from Sumatra or Sulawesi, I just don't know.

I personally find it difficult to place Indonesian spears.
Here are a few of my collection, some of them were discussed here, maybe the threads are helpful for you. http://www.vikingsword.com/vb/showth...identification http://www.vikingsword.com/vb/showth...donesian+spear http://www.vikingsword.com/vb/showth...an+spear+brass http://www.vikingsword.com/vb/showth...tombak+sharing |
