 At first (and second) glance I'd go with African also. If you incline toward India/Nepal, could you post a few comparables that led you to that inclination? |

 Hello Tim, I'm pretty positive that your carving is not Batak (nor from any neighbouring culture). It seems to have vibes of eastern Indonesia - can't give you any specific leads though. Regards, Kai |

 For a different perspective how about a more artistic carving from Rapa Nui (Easter Island).  Reminds me somewhat of the Moai with their top knot (if the patina is not faked). |
