Need help with identifying antique sword
6 Attachment(s)
Hello I recently purchased this sword and don't know anything about it. It looks similar to a Rapier which is why I purchased it. After a little research I also found a Walloon sword that looked similar. I payed a good amount for this so im hoping i got my moneys worth. I'm just not sure how old it is and where is it from. The sword is 42" long. There is no visible marks i have found. Any information you could provide would be great.

I think this is a "Felddegen" of Southern-Germany or Switzerland around 1720. Probably the copper-bandaging might be a remake.

Yes, Feldegen or Haudegen, northern European mid/late C17th to early C18th. From the looks of the side loops, there should be pierced guards in those. You can see the grooves where they sat. They're usually slightly sprung and can fall out when damaged. It's not unusual for them to be missing.

This looks like what can also be referred to as "Schwedendegen" of Swedish/Dutch type.
