I got this last October, I got it from eBay. I was in the market for one . I was watching one on auction that I didn't win. then I saw this one get relisted buy it now. the handle and silver seemed nice, and the blade looked interesting. unfortunately there was no scabbard with this one. it did cost me a lot, but looked way better then most I see at the price range.
can anyone tell me about the blade? could it have a pattern? can anything else be said about it? thanks for all info. |
Try pouring hot water on the blade, this might reveal a pattern if the blade is laminated.

Hello Joe,
Yes, definitely laminated considering the visible cold shuts and delamination. Try the hot water or a passing, exploratory etch first. Before any real attempt for a permanent etch, the blade would benefit from some gentle polishing. Regards, Kai |
I agree with David on the age of the blade - maybe even a tad earlier.
This pommel type I usually associate with the upper Cota Bato area. A nice quality piece - could you specify dimensions, please? Regards, Kai |
Hi thanks for the info an tips, I will do as you say and try to see the lamination with hot water before deciding to use vinegar on it.
sorry I didn't include the dimensions, the length of the blade with the guard included is 22 1/4 inches, the length of the whole sword with the handle is 28 inches. width of the blade is 1 1/2 inch. |
