Another piece bought online and via this forum in fact. I put a "want to buy" on the swap forum and a member came forward with this example, and very happy with it I am indeed. (I am not sure if naming sellers is OK here, but happy to advertise him if he so wishes)

David, that is indeed a lovely Parang Nabur and i am glad you are so pleased about it.
Regarding your comment above though, given that commercial posts of all kinds are banned on our forums it really isn't up to the seller if it is alright for you to advertise them. It is absolutely against the rules of our forums to allow such advertisements here. Enjoy you parang though. ;)

Thats an old Beladah Belabang or Parang Lais with good laminated blade, indeed.

Yes, most do. From very basic laminations to high-end pattern welding.

Yours seems to have some contrasting random layers. I'd suggest a gentle, subdued etch to keep the focus on the flow of lines (fullers, etc.).

what are the dimensions ?

I am curious as I see some similarities with the Dutch klewangs ...
but then again I am no expert in this subject

Blade length starts just under 50cm, peaks around 60-70cm, and tethers out with a few rare long examples.

No real relationship aside from general western influence regarding hilts with guards (of very different construction).

The clipped blade in Wayne's example (a relatively rare variant) considerably predates the Dutch klewang.
