Antique gunong #2
5 Attachment(s)
My 2nd antique gunong acquisition. It is a shame that there are some missing inlays on the hilt. This gunong will be sent to Jolo for the restoration of the missing parts.

This is a post WW2 piece. The mounts are aluminum and the other missing pieces probably bone like the rest on the hilt.

Could be also WWII area, 1930 until 1950 would be my guess. Regards, Detlef |
Nice one, please post pictures when it is restored.

Might be aluminum fittings on the hilt and cross piece. The fittings on the sheath do not look like aluminum. But i agree with the mid-20th century dating.
A nice laminated blade with a strong center ridge. I actually find the pommel knob very interesting. If it can be properly restored this will be a very attractive piece. It would be good if your restorer uses aged pieces of bone for the project. Does anyone know what the green material is that is inlaid in the ferrule ring? |
