Benefit of the doubt ...
As if the blade underwent a rough cleaning session and the previous dent/s has/have augmented to a larger portion; maybe even with the owner's help.
Would this be a plausible inference Raf ? |
good day ,
I got the sword in the same form as in the last photos on a red background, the previous owner simply repaired the large potholes with a "cold weld" trowel. I do not like such restoration, I like to perceive the object as it is, I removed all the finishing touches; potholes do not spoil it in my opinion. with respect |
cross posts ... and some close explanation.

Thank you for your explanation.

What a terrible wound.
|
yes, the wound is serious, and I am glad that I removed the putty, there was a loose substance under it, but in the core it was about 5 mm thick at the site of the cleavage and therefore the sword is strong and still serious

Good thing, Andrey  .
|
Fernando thank you for your help and support,
the subject is rather difficult to determine, of course, I conducted some research according to the circumstances and place of its discovery, with a high probability, it may have been lost in the winter of 1456 (due to events at the place of its discovery) .. but I wanted to clarify; the blade seems to be a type XIII according to Oakeshott, garda style 5, pommel type VI. (Is Oakeshott possible Italian?) is the subject as a whole likely to be attributed to the late 14th and early 15th centuries? with respect |
Thank you Raf for your question, thanks to him I showed more details,
with respect.. |
This sword doesn't look like an honest period piece to me.

Good afternoon, could you please clarify what exactly you mean? with respect . |
I miss any „lines“ in the steel/corrosion due to a laminated steel.
