Another ancestor figure example for ID

This one I have not received yet. I'm fairly confident the hilt (at least) is Batak, but the name/style is not clear. The scabbard seems unusual and might not be original
Your thoughts? Dave A. |
Oh I'd say pretty Batak.
|
Yes, it's Batak style but I doubt that this knife has any serious age, I would say it's worked to cheat, sorry!

Clues
Thank you Detlef,
I was an inexpensive bet. I would be grateful to learn the most important clues that led to your conclusion. Dave A. |
Hello Dave,
The blade has the wrong form, the scabbard is wrong, the patination somewhat odd. The handle look good, nice carved. Sure I only can be when handling the piece but I am very skeptical. Regards, Detlef |
Returned
I received the item and the poor qualities were immediately clear. The seller was quite miffed by my objections but eventually agreed to a full refund on the condition that I never do business with them again.
Thank you all for your early opinions. Dave A. |
Well done Dave! It can be very hard to get a seller to take something back, even when the item is clearly sold as something it is not. I take it that not dealing with this seller again is no great burden for you. ;) :D
