Silver/Silver Alloy (?) Belt ID
3 Attachment(s)
Can anyone place the origin and time period of this belt? Asking for a friend. :)
So nobody has an approximate origin idea about this belt?
With my novice eyes, I would say silver and Indian origin or Persian. But....
Yes, i was thinking Indo-Persian as well. Would love to nail it down for my friend though. Thanks!
One easy test, he can try with a magnet :) !
Also, test with bleach, if become black => solid silver or silver plated, then, just have to clean the belt with white of meudon |
Thanks. I am more interested though in the origin of the belt and approximate date than i am the materials. Thought it would be awesome if it tested as silver.
I would love a few other guesses on this one if anybody has them.
What about Caucasus origin with Ottoman influence (that kind of "cornflower" ...). I donīt have any idea about the age, but I would guess older than turn of 19/20 centuries.
Thanks for your input Martin. :)
This appears to be the 8 petal White Lotus which is better explained at http://www.harekrsna.de/Lotus-FLower.htm as a suggestion to the Indian nature of the item.
Nail and nail - hmmm. My guess is that it is Indian - but I must say that I am guessing.
Thanks for your input gentleman.
Anyone care to place this in an era? |
I'm inclined to place it in the Nepal/Bhutan/Tibet area. Broad, of course, but it seems to me to be rather north and east of the earlier suggestions. West of China. (It has a taste of the Kazakh/Uzbek to it, but again, north of the earlier suggested locations. So, Silk Road sort of thing.)
I can't precisely state the basis of my guess. |
