Hello all. I’m rather new and had a Hudson Bay trade lance you guys just helped me out with the ID of. I’m a long time auction buyer who has come by many items in lots and property sales over the years that might be of interest. No idea where these are from originally and I am not an expert. Any help with what I have (or if it’s even real and not novelty items) would be appreciated. Here are some pics.

Hello,
Welcome to the forum. I can help with the two daggers on the right, the red dyed leather covered dagger is a seme dagger, the second from the right is a Moroccan koummya. Both are not very old IMO. Hope this helps a little bit. Regards, Detlef |
Just to add to Detlef's ID....... the SEME is African Maasai.

Thanks guys. Any idea about the bronze or the open sided wood scabbard?
|
The one with the open sided wooden scabbard using a small carving of a shield to help hold the knife in place is from the Philippines. Once again like the others is not of any great age and would likely date to WWII or possibly even much later. It would help immensely to see better photos of both the knife and scabbard itself.
Best, Robert |
The bronze/brass item appears to be cast judging by the surface "bubbles". Sorry no idea as to origin.

The bronze dagger is a modern copy of a nomadic dagger from the 4th-6th centuries B.C. Scythians or Sarmatians

or possibly a modern copy of a Celtic dagger , or it may be a modern made athame ritual 'Wicca' dagger. |
