Translation of script required

Already posted this elsewhere on forum but maybe the wrong section, as I received no comment.
My request is in reference to an EICo. officers sword which dates to 1852; the blade etched with three lines of script; this having been viewed by a number of people, two of which can read Farsi. Whilst a couple of the words were recognized the larger part of the inscription doesn't appear to be Farsi, could not be read by them, the suggestion being that it might be Urdu. Looking for someone who can give an accurate translation, and how it would be written in English. Gordon |
Dear Gordon,
Can't help, but great item! |
G'day Gordon,
Great sword. Any chance of some pics of the rest of the engraving? Is that a garter star I see? Cheers, Bryce |
A friend was able to read the last part, said 'it says Shehr London, City, London'
