Rare unusual stout bronze & iron weapons
6 Attachment(s)
A group of extremely stout weapons featuring roman (?) blades and faceted pikes. All blades are iron and all the unique handles are bronze. I would feel confident with any of these pieces battling an automobile. They are all solid enough to pierce a car without flinching, are extremely stout and battle -worthy.
The only other reference to weapons of this type I have found was a posting by forum member KATANA. We may have obtained these from the same source, a San Jose collector who got them in Nigeria as a merchant marine. I have a total of twenty pieces and have never found anyone with a definitive familiarity or any scholarly information on these so all impressions and any ideas about their origin are encouraged. thanks for your help! notnow16 |
The blades appear to be made of iron. In my oppinion they are all very recent producion (last 50 years or so).

Bronze & Iron collection

Yes the iron blades are imbedded in the cast bronze handles. Most I agree seem as if they could be new. There are a few pieces though that have a complex age patina that would be difficult to simulate in just a few decades. They are puzzling and I just have to ask more questions...

The bronze work appears to me to be recent also.
