Origine of Pedang?
2 Attachment(s)
Hello everybody.
I have read the old thread about the origin of the pedang, but I find it very difficult to understand the subtleties. Here is one of my pedang which I can't determine the provenance. It's very modest, the handle has been broken and roughly repaired. The wooden sheath is covered with a thin white metal plate (low grade silver ??). The seller announced Sumatra as its origin, but the blade (with the 2 small holes) made me think more of the Cundrik of Lombok. (I have not yet cleaned the blade. :o ) What do you think? |
Lovely sword!

Hello Athanase,
this is a pedang from Lombok, the fullers (sogokan) are the giveaway. Normally this blades come in a different dress, see for example here: http://www.vikingsword.com/vb/showth...=lombok+pedang I would clean the blade carefully with WD40 only. Regards, Detlef |
