Terrible.
several javanese hilts in the wrong direction. The back of the scabbard on display instead of the front. A balinese hilt not fitted well onto the peksi. Is there no-one in the museum with a basic knowledge of keris ? Thank for sharing nevertheless :) |
Plus some of the sundang are Moro/Philippine kris! A couple are very recent (1960s and up).
I agree with you Asomotif....... Still some are nice examples, thank you Marcus. |

And what's with that gold (?) band with the green stones (?) haphazardly wrapped around that Sumatran ivory hilt. Doesn't seem to belong to it at all. Also a number of blades that seem to have some rather active rust. I would have expected more out of the Malaysian National Museum. |
Stunning ... Thanks to share :) :)

Thank you for the photos!
Many beautiful pieces... ... but so poorly displayed and maintained. :( Find it hard to believe that all their curators are completely inept. What a shame! PS: I am currently in Indonesia and visited a few museums only to be shocked how poorly maintained they are. Will post photos when I will return. |
