I was from the philippine and in my home town the were very good wood carver who were unemployed, comming from the antique furniture industry. so i decided to employ them! so here's the outcome! i hope you guys like it. hope to make some more if everything turns out good!

Fantastic shield. What are the dimensions,is that cut from a single piece of wood, what type of wood did he use, is that bamboo or rattan wrapped around the edges, how heavy is the shield ?
|
Very nice. I like it.
I too am curious about the dimensions and type of wood. Was the wood used for the shield from a recently cut down tree? |
Its the real thing just new. If you collect PI stuff why would you not want one to go with your display, unless money is no problem.

well first these are prototypes at 20". and are already sold or reserved. these series will come out as 25". in 3 patterns atm. yes the are made from one piece wood from a full cut down tree from my lands over in the PI. the wood is call cupang locally. and as it stands now it weights 5lbs or so. tried to get all the details right from the look to the shape to the weight, practically everything. my goal is not only does in look like an antique moro shield, it feel like one too.

As this thread has more of a commercial theme I have moved it here to the swap forum. Anyone interested in more information on these shields can contact Bathala by either PM or email.
Best, Robert |
To try to keep this post in-line with swap forum rules I have been informed that the tentative pricing for these shields will be placed at $700 for 25" and $900 for 30".
