leather quest

I am planning a non-weapon project and could use some help. I was hoping someone here had some information on African leather tanning processes. I have search the web but can't find anything. I even joined a leather working forum with no luck. I figured with all the experience with sheaths and such you folks might be in the know.

This varies by region and the type of leather you are hoping to produce.

So-called Moroccan leather, produced in Hausa areas used a sumac tanning process. In other areas of the sahel acacia albida pods or the timeknit plant could be used.
