Lucky you, what a beauty, it certainly looks like an Asanti state sword. There is some interesting reading on them in Christopher Springs `African Arms and Armour`. Great piece thanks for sharing.

A NICE EXAMPLE HERE IS A LINK TO A GOOD FORUM POST FOR SOME GOOD EXAMPLES. THE LINK DOSEN'T SEEM TO WORK A SEARCH OF ASHANTI WILL BRING IT AND SEVERAL OTHER REVELANT POSTS UP. :shrug:
