Sundry sailor pirate items!

OK, I'm taking liberties with the pirate connection, but these items certainly were found in many pubs and wharves over the centuries...
First up is a pewter flagon stamped 1749 by the noted Swiss pewter and silversmith, Antone Charton. His finer pieces are in museums in Germany and Switzerland. Just the type of drinking vessel you'd expect a pirate to have! |
More pirate...

Here are some clay smoking pipes from the late 17th-early 18th c. Their clay stems started out long, but were slowly broken off over time as the sailors reused them. Note the almost egg-shape of the bowls on these, which correspond to the earliest types in antique journals and dig sites.
