Wanted to see if anyone was able to translate the medallion disc on this Madurese KERIS? It appears to be in Arabic but unsure what language. Would also appreciate any other thoughts or comments about the piece.

I checked with my wife and her guess is " Hijratul nabiyyin sallalahualai hi wassalam" loosely translated as " the migration of the prophet of Allah, may peace be upon him. Could be a kind of stamp like those found on rings of muslim rulers of old. She could be totally wrong of course.

Would love to hear if anyone agree with this reading or any alternative one?
Also, would love to hear opinion about the thin blade which look quite strange to me with rather awkward looking luks . And what type of pamor is this?....and this combination of ivory and wood donoriko type hilt is unusual to me too.

Hallo Green,

the blade seems very old to my eyes and have received maybe several warangan in it's life. It's a kebo blade.
The down part isn't from ivory IMVHO but from bone and is most possible an old repair because the wood was broken away.

Regards,
Detlef
