Knife for comment

Hello all,
At a friend's house and he showed me a knife that he had picked up in a batch of items from an old soldier who I believe had passed away.
The old soldier had served in Malaysia during the Malayan Emergency. He didn't like the standard issued golok so he bought a knife locally that he carried with him in the bush.
I only managed to take some quick camera shots so apologies for quality.
The knife is 2 feet / 61 cm.
The knife and leather scabbard with carry strap are in very nice nick for the age and for being carried in the tropics.
Any thoughts would be much appreciated.
Thanks

Not my area of interest but looks like some thing from the Philippines.

Hello imas560, As Tim has said your friends knife/short sword is from the Philippines/Luzon and because of the aluminium fittings is most likely of WWII or later age. Most of these that I have seen show varying amounts of damage to the carved horn horses head, missing ears are the most common defect. The original tooled leather scabbard does show some wear and tear but not that much and just the fact that the belt wasn't lost or destroyed is a definite plus. All in all, a nice item with a good story.

Best,
Robert
