A Lumad Shield
5 Attachment(s)
Dave and Lonna generously parted with one of theirs for one of mine. A shield for a sword trade. An incised / tatooed Mindanao Lumad shield. A tag reveals that it was once in a college collection in Wisconsin.
Hope you enjoy. |
wow! that's a heck of a bagobo shield, bro! it's non-typical, as in the color is different from what i normally see out there. the wood has a real nice patina on it. i especially like the incisions as well; very tribal. i might just copy the design for my next tat sleeve, lol.
what is the length and width of this, kino? |
One of the best I've seen!
|
Great piece Kino! The carving and patina are sensational!
|
Nice Manobo shield!
|
Thanks all.
Dave told me that the shield has been hanging on his wall for at least 20 yrs. I guess he got tired of looking at it. :) Spunjer...16" at its widest X 39". A whole sleeve on your sword wielding arm... That's gonna hurt for a while |
A nice piece of wood :D ! Really a wonderful shield, Albert, Congrats!!!
