KERIS WITH NICE PARMOR

A KERIS EBAY # 7370489122 JUST CLOSED. I ESPECIALLY LIKED THE UNUSUAL AND ATTRACTIVE PARMOR , IT MUST HAVE BEEN A GOOD ONE JUDEGING FROM THE PRICE. PERHAPS MADE FOR A FAMOUS BARBER AS IT HAS A PATTERN REMINESCENT OF A BARBER POLE :D ENJOY

Looks like a new keris to me but I am no expert. I can't believe someone paid that kind of money for what looks like a new keris

Ahh! things have not been so bad after all.

Lew, i don't think this is a new keris.......but it ain't from 1400 neither. It looks like a fairly nice example of a pamor that is not easily found in older keris and it also has a somewhat unusal dapor as well. It could, of course, be a newer keris that was artifically aged, but i tend to think this keris has some true age to it. Not the date specified, but not new. Still, i don't think i'd pay that price for it either. :)

OK, one with far greater knowledge of such things than i has convinced me that this keris is indeed of recent manufacture. :o
I guess that's why i left that little disclaimer in my first post, just a gut feeling. It really gets tough when they go to all that trouble to make things look old.

Yeah , when I looked at this 'piece' it looked like it hade been left to etch just enough to give it the cloak of age .
IMO most of these unusual and rare original pamors are for the most part already in Indo collections . :(

What I can't figure out is why a guy from Jogja who writes all that technical info for this "find" has the pendok on backwards.

Rick 6th December 2005 04:42 PM

Mick , :D :D
I note there were only two bidders IIRC .
That's weird .
