2 Attachment(s)
I HAVE HAD THIS SMALL DAGGER SINCE THE 1980'S JUST GETTING AROUND TO POSTING IT FOR AN I.D. IT HAS A DIAMOND SHAPED BLADE IN CROSS SECTION THICKEST AT THE CENTER. HORN HANDLE AND GAURD WOOD SCABBARD NO DECORATION TO THE 5 INCH BLADE. 9 3/4 INCHES LONG IN SCABBARD. WOVEN FIBER BANDS ON SCABBARD AND PART OF OLD HANDMADE CORD BELT.

Looks Filipino to me? I'm sure others will chime in with something more precise. I like the look of it - thick and solid. :)

Looks like a kind of badek. The hilt has some ukiran features of a javanese keris. But there are also some western influences. I would say a javanese dagger.

I think a few times over the years gunongs from the Philippines showed up with handles carved to more or less accurately resemble gun handles. In this case it looks like they included a revolver's bullet drum into the design.

Hi Barry,
I am with Henk, look like an Indonesian dagger, maybe badik. Handle is IMHO clearly Indonesian, will show later a picture of a very similar handle from a Minangkabau keris. Regards, Detlef |
