Info on Chinese (?) Trousse

A friend has a trousse that supposedly came from Burma. My research shows them in China, Tibet, Mongolia. I haven't handled the piece, but only have the pics. Can anyone suggest an area and age? (It doesn't look that old to me) She also wants value, but I know that is outside of the forum rules. Thanks for any info.

Without handling it, I would risk my reputation and say that it is a new Chinese rendition of a Tibetan original. Looks far too intact in all aspects: blade, scabbard, brass and even paint.

I think the same, very new. I have just been waiting for someone else to break the ice. Tim

Well, i know very little about these and had never seen one until this past Summer. In June i posted this one on the swap forum, part of a collection that a friend was getting rid of. By comparison it looks older and better made. The silverwork on your looks more modern and second-rate and i suspect it is not pure silver. I agree it is probably a newer piece. The styles, however, look similar and he described his as being Mandarin if i am not mistaken:

Thank you gentlemen. I had the same gut feeling.
