first of all, i would like to apologize if the pictures are upside down since i'm totally naive regarding this type of script. as a matter of fact, i'm assuming it's hindi??? anyways, i was wondering if anyone can translate this for me. it's found on the spine of my tulwar. the letterings are huge... they're so big, i had to split it up six ways with a cam..

the script is written over 19" of the blade's spide starting at about 3/4 of an inch closest to the handle, tapering to 3/8 of an inch towards the tip.
the pic sequence above is upper left, upper right, middle left, middle right and finally, lower left, then lower right. here's two picrues of the whole script, upside down and right side up

lol, i knew there was something i'm forgetting. thanks dom. the script is on the T-spine covering 4/5ths of the whole length

According to my wife, the script reads something to the effect of:

???? of Gujarat of truth there is no king like Mara ? compassionate lordship

She couldn't make sense of the first three characters, and there was another she was unsure of towards the end, but this is the general gist of what is written. :)

thank you sir! i guess i could safely assume that this is from the state of Gujarat. is the script in hindi?

Hi Spunjer,

I'm glad to have been able to be on the contribution-end of a translation request for once... ;)

Regarding the script, she's fairly positive (98+%) - if not absolutely certain - it's Hindi. The couple characters she's having a hard time with (while likely due to the use of an antiquated script, I would presume) have/had her wondering though...

Regards,

Chris
