Hello Marco,

Boar is sometimes found on Keris hilts, and this one looks like. Another one in Van Zonneveld's book on page 67.

hmm....i wouldn't have pegged this as a boar. It looks much more naga like to my eyes. Of course we are only seeing one angle. Other angles would be helpful as well as a shot of the bottom of the base. Are we even sure this is a keris hilt and not meant for some other blade or implement?

Sorry but I don't have other pics. The hole is round and perfect for a keris.
Of course is a naga (maybe a croccodile :D )

Indeed Cirebon hilts sometime comes is 'unusual' form. I can be certain it is intended for keris looking at the rounded base even though I've seen those which more appropriate for sword ie. oval end. Thanks for sharing Marco.

I wasn't aware there are naga depictions with tusks integrated.

I was reading them more as fangs than tusks. This creature just don't look like a boar to me. It doesn't have a boar's head or snout, at least not from this orientation.

Sorry, David, I was wrong.
