Mongol Ild?
I saw this sword in "The Deadliest Warrior" and took an instant liking to it. I'd never heard of an "ild" before, and google doesn't come back with much, unfortunately.
It's a one or two-handed short saber, about 30"-34". The blade has a nice curve and comes to something of a hatchet point. Sorry I can't find a better picture than this, but does anyone know more about this kind of saber? (I'd seriously consider a purchasing a reproduction of some kind if I could find one.) http://dyn.ifilm.com/resize/image/st....jpg?width=429 http://dyn.ifilm.com/resize/image/st....jpg?width=430 |

'Tis one and the same sword , taken by me . :) My blade has a long yelman that is all but sharpened . There is a ring of red paint just above the ferrule . Purchase: Ebay, ca. '98; wasn't cheap then . Astute Seller . |
A Parang Nubar, is what Indonesian/ Malay? What is it's influence?
Allot the curved Asian swords seem to have their influence the middle east? Didn't the Chinese Dao gain influence from India? I remember this replica of a Mongol calvary saber: http://forum.grtc.org/viewtopic.php?f=8&t=740 |

The beladah belabang is no dayak weapon but has Malay origine, and was found in southeast Borneo, Banjarmasin area. Because there was a lot of trade going on there, they also are found once in a while in other areas. |
