Question for info
 

Hallo all,

I was wondering if there is a image of the keris of Pangeran Diponegoro. And does anny one know were the keris is? I was confiscated by the Dutch when he surrenderd. But i have no clue where it is now. Did the Dutch return it to Indonesia, or is it somewere in a Dutch museum or private collection? I have asked some people, but they dont know. Does anny body here have info about it. Or maybe a photo or good drawing of it?

I have in my hand, a copy of museum catalogue which published some images of Pangeran Diponegoro's keris. (The copy of the catalogue was given by Dietrich Drescher or Ki Jayamalelo two weeks ago). According to the text in the catalogue, the keris is in a museum in Germany. This is the address, according to the text in catalogue:

The Diponegoro's kris (straight keris, dapur of "jalak sangu tumpeng" -- with two sogokan, and tingil, and ornamented with gold 'kinatah' type of 'panjiwilis' depicting "kala makara"... beside is the image of Jogja warangka, type of Amangkurat with silver pendhok bunton)

Actually this keris, which possibly belonged to Diponegoro, is to be found in the Museum für Völkerkunde Wien.

It's pendhok bunton is made of gold or at least gold plated.

I am sorry to raise this old thread again..... But I cant help it.

Could anybody provide photographs of the Pangeran Diponegoro's keris from the museum? Thks.

Any photo from the museum of the said Jalak Sangu Tumpeng?

There does not seem to be an image of this particular item on their website although there is this
Museum of Ethnology Vienna and a curator to contact.

it does not identify the keris on their web page at all, I was just throwing it up as a nice image and highlighting the fact that they did have a curator specifically for Insular SE Asia who may be able to assist anyone who wanted to take this further

Dear All,

here are the pictures of Keris, which belonged to Diponegoro, according to notices of George Lodewijk Weijnschenk. He acquired this Keris in Yogyakarta, 1886 he's collection came to MVK Wien.

Total length 48,7 cm, blade length 40,5, which is very big for a Yogya kris. Also atasan is very substantial.
