This sword is described as an Honor Sword of a famous ( and, indeed, astonishing, Hussar, Count Hadik, see Wikipedia)
The problem is that Hadik's sword is a venerated treasure exhibited in Budapest, and they would be unlikely to unload it thru E-Bay :-)
I did a quick research: apparently, copies of this sword are sold by Weaponsedge

Well, I contacted the seller and gently asked whether he was aware of the fact that his item was a replica. He answered: yes, he was. But he told me that all of the Hadik's swords available were replicas and that it would be unreasonable to think otherwise. Therefore, he was not obligated to provide full description.

Really , I would not have guessed this was/is a replica.
When where they made ?

I also know next to nothing about European weapons, but my antennae twitched and I spent 10 seconds on the Internet "researching" the sword.

The "used" appearance is somewhat at odds with the sellers "honest affirmation" that it is a replica? Caveat Emptor indeed!

Professional shill bidders at the end I think. The seller must have thought it was going to go too cheap and had his cronies bid it up. One of them, with a rating of zero has bid on 84 items in the last 30 days.

:) i have one of those replicas, bought it just before the sword ban on new curved swords over a half metre went into effect (i panicked). was looking for a replica 1796 LC sabre, but couldn't find one in stock...

actually a fairly well made sword. nice decorator. as noted in the linked review above it's a bit blade heavy.
brass castings on mine were fairly well finished, leather work well done. no cracks noted. blade unsharpened. decorations in fuller laser cut.

i thought it was worth what i paid for it. (roughly the same as in the linked article above, converted to UK £'s)

the ebay one seems to have been fairly well distressed in a fairly crude attempt to antique it. it's been rode hard and put away wet...

i'm glad to see that one in such poor condition is worth so much, mine must be worth at least double that :D

An acquaintance bought a rapier from this dealer 2 months ago, and the dealer all but disappeared upon receiving the money. So did the rapier.
